Festa week starts tomorrow.

Festa week will officially be starting tomorrow, Sunday 28th August. This occasion should be an opportunity for us to take a look at the main events being prepared in honour of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Novena - A spiritual preparation:

The Novena period should be a blessed one for all of us. It really is a time for reflecting and preparing ourselves spiritually, in order to be able to truly celebrate the feast of Our Lady.

This year, the Church has organized the Novena in 3 sets of 3 days each, with 3 different sermoners, who are sure to help us reflect on our beloved Holy Virgin, and what her message should be for us today.

The Triduum - Celebrations and Expectations:

As the feast day moves closer, the Triddum period will take over- a short time composed of three days, in which the Church invites us to both celebrate, but also await in prayer and reflection our beloved feast.

This year, the solemn Mass will be presided by Can. John Muscat, with the traditional Triduum sermon delivered by Can. Antoine Borg, Parish Priest of Imgarr (Malta). Everyone is invited to partake in this act of celebration and expectation for the day in which we finally give honour to Our Patroness, Virgin of Mt. Carmel.

The Vigil - A day of Devotion:

The vigil of the feast is a very important moment for our community. It symbolises our strong devotion and love towards she who, in silence, waited and believed in Our Lord.

It is with this attitude of devotional awaitment that we are also entitled to celebrate and rejoice in Our Lord, and his Holy mother, with the special celebrations, and most of all, the Solemn Procession with the relic of the Holy Virgin.

The Feast Day - Honour to Our Lady:

The feast day is at the very heart of our community. It is an opportunity for all of us to enjoy, in a responsible manner, those moments which unite us together. However, the most important thing that must really unite us is the love and devotion we uphold for Our Lady and our special patroness.

May the Holy Virgin bestow her blessings upon our Church, community, and our beloved village of Xlendi.
